Rocky was shot in just 28 days
-
Most of Sylvester Stallone's family
have appeared in the Rocky films. Stallone's father, mother, brother,
wife, son and even dog have appeared over the fifteen years of Rocky films
-
Producers originally didn't want to use
Sly Stallone to play main character Rocky due to him not being a big
enough 'movie star'
-
When training
for Rocky II, Sly trained so hard that he tore his pectorals, resulting in
a four hour operation.
-
Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed) was
originally a professional American Footballer.
-
Tommy Morrison (Tommy Gunn) is a real
life boxer.
-
Many people have argued over who hit
who first at the end of Rocky III, when Apollo and Rocky have a 'friendly
fight'. It is widely believed both men hit each other at exactly the same
time.
-
Watch carefully in the original Rocky
during the Apollo Creed fight and notice how many seats are empty in the
background. The budget was so tight they couldn't afford extras to fill
the seats.
-
The statue of Rocky that appears in
Rocky III still exists. The Museum of Art refused to home the statue
declared it was not "art" but just an ugly "movie prop". Eventually,
the statue was placed at the entrance of the First Union Spectrum, in
Philadelphia
-
The Rocky statue has also appeared in
other films such as Trading Places, Mannequin and Philadelphia.
-
Heavyweight boxer Ernie Shavers was
considered for the role of Clubber Lang. Stallone thought that he was good
enough to right a real boxer, instead of an actor. But in a practice fight
Shavers, taking it easy on Stallone, broke two of Stallone's ribs in less
than three rounds, so he was immediately dropped from consideration for
the role.

Originally it was intended for
Rocky to die after defeating Tommy Gunn in the street fight in Rocky V,
however they had second thoughts and rewrote the ending, claiming "it
would be like killing off Superman"
