Memorable Quote

Adrian: It's suicide. You've seen him, you know how strong he is. You can't win!
Rocky: Oh, Adrian. Adrian always tells the truth. No, maybe I can't win. Maybe the only thing I can do is just take everything he's got. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that. I don't know.

Russian man mountain Ivan Drago appears in the boxing world and is hyped up by his manager and trainers as having a punch that "Destroys whatever it hits".

The retired Apollo Creed isn't impressed however, and offers the Russian an exhibition match but everything goes wrong as Apollo refuses to stop the match and is killed after taking countless blows to the head.

Rocky, feeling partly responsible for the death after not throwing in the towel and stopping the match, offers Drago a shot at the title and agrees to take him on in Russia itself. Adrian shows little support, admitting its a "Suicide mission" worried that Rocky could be killed himself.

Rocky travels to Russia with best friend Paulie and Apollo's former trainer Duke, and is overjoyed when Adrian turns up a few days later.

As Drago uses his high tech training methods, Rocky uses the basics and goes on to face the muscleman in a hostile reception.
